Mig weld spatter

Welding spatter can be a big problem among the novice and expert alike. Many good welders dont really know how to setup their mig machines properly to get flat, penetrative, spatter free welds. There are a few products out there that can help though. One system puts a particulate into the gas line of the mig gun and this works very well to prevent unsightly spatter all over your welds. These systems are very inexpensive also and are available to fit all machines.

Just raising you mig welders gas pressure, or turning down the voltage will not be enough to get good, spatter free welds. Learning to set your machine up the right way means you wont need one of the anti spatter devices mentioned above. We will be going more into how to set up your mig welder in another article. There are other methods also of preventing spatter and the main one is a spray on weld spatter shield. these are quite effective and can inhibit limited amounts of spatter.
